Spiral Woman is a one-woman company in San Francisco, California, USA. I create artwork that expresses my love of nature and honors the strength and spirit of women.

I am committed to earth-friendly practices. I print the artwork with water-soluble inks on a manual press - the only power I use is for the lights in my studio. I use organic t-shirts and have other organic garments made for me: dresses, tank tops and more.

My clothes cost more than those you might buy at a chain store because they were sewn by people who were paid a living wage in the USA. (Look at the labels in the clothes you have bought recently - you probably won't find any made in the USA. If you bought from discount retailers, your labels will list the countries with the lowest wages and the meanest labor standards.) In a time when so many Americans are out of work, I want my business to support communities by creating sustainable jobs for the workers who supply me. When you buy from Spiral Woman, you are not only getting wonderful clothing; you are supporting fair labor practices and the creation of sustainable economic community.

Spiral Woman started in the summer of 1988, when I started making crafts and selling them at markets and fairs. After trying out some different crafts (jewelry, clocks, scarves), I started making printed clothing and I knew I had come home. I sell my clothing at craft fairs in Northern California and beyond. Now it's available to the online community through online shopping.
